They are written to meet the disclosure a British Columbia financial consulting firm owes under PIPEDA and BC PIPA. Everything published here is general information. It is not financial, tax, insurance, investment or legal advice, it is not a recommendation, and it is not tailored to anyone. Two people in what looks like the same situation frequently need opposite answers. Ask us about yours.
The rules move
Contribution limits, tax brackets, filing deadlines, benefit thresholds and product rules all change. Pages here are accurate to the best of our knowledge when written and are not updated every time a rule shifts.
No outcome is guaranteed
No investment return is promised or implied anywhere on this site. Markets fall as well as rise, past performance tells you nothing reliable about the future, and segregated fund guarantees apply only on the terms set out in the contract itself. Insurance pays on the definitions written into the policy, not on what seems fair.
Where we are licensed
Nothing on this site is an offer or solicitation in any province or country where Phoenix West Consulting Group Ltd. or its representatives are not registered to carry on that activity.
Insurance and investment products
Insurance products are placed under an individual licence, through a contracted managing general agency. Mutual funds and segregated funds are offered through the dealer we are registered with. Those firms, not this consulting corporation, provide those products.
Professional titles
British Columbia restricts the use of titles such as "financial planner" and "financial advisor" under the Financial Professionals Title Protection framework. Only titles we are entitled to use appear on this site.
Legal work
Phoenix West advises on business structure and prepares incorporation documents. It does not draft shareholder agreements or purchase and sale agreements and does not give legal opinions — that is the practice of law and is referred to a lawyer called to a bar in a Canadian province.
